To this day, I'm yet to find a version that's more powerful than this one. Top notch!
When i was 20...😅
"...AND HE SPILLED THE GUTS ALL OVER THE STAGE!!!" Such a powerful song damn!
Their follow up single Being Grilled wasn’t a success.
Saw them around this time playing in a meeting room at Sheffield University Students Union with Thunderbirds and comic book slides projected onto a small screen. Think they played the now disgraced Gary Glitter song Rock and Roll Part 1 as an encore. Still got and play the Fast Records single. This is a superb live version with of course the late great Tony Wilson at the end...always ahead of the game. Thanks
78 bloody hell
With the right make up he could have looked just like Syd Barrett.
TUNE I still have on a 45 single
Odd version..."I'm playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order"
...the reason Julian cope is not more popular than he is is because its difficult to believe just how good his music is...
But also he challenges us to be real - most people will understand ‘all the fears, anxieties are bottled up inside’ but few people will admit to it and even fewer want it served up in a pop song, however catchy.
Such a suave crooner.
Ich habe den Song damals öfter in Diskotheken gehört, sowas vergisst man nicht mehr.
I guess this is the only live version from that time (on youtube)...
Great music to grow up 2 sigh ..those were the days
...haughtingly beautiful...xxx
Love Cope and hate Fox hunting MoFos so perfecto for humble me ❤
I saw Jim McGuinn at the Shaboo, solo show, and he played this song twice❤
571th sub. Stupid old brain depleted git.
Imagine being in 1978 and hearing this for the first time....
It was Amazing, like something from the Future. When they promised us The Jetsons, but are now deliberately going Flintstones. 😉🏴
This is morw like a tribute band, only McGuinn left.
I fell in love with him and his hair.
Sounds a bit like Fade to Grey
This is coming up against The Killing Moon (-ish), so it‘d better be great.
fantastic...hasn't dated in the slightest.
I love Scott Walker. But this choreography is really cheesy even for that era.
This was unique. Preferred this to the later day stuff : Don't you want me crap.
Awesome tune!!!!
Teardrop Explodes , one of the best bands of the early 1980'S , Julian Cope was magical
But t
LSD is a wonderful drug.
Balls of steel.
.myself ...my partner...my children...my friends...we all utterly love fried...its full of astonishing tracks like this...time stands still during this song...breathtaking stuff...
Until you realise its just a story and we are all directors playing a part in the direction of our lives and as julian cope once sang REWARD
Julian Cope is a God!!!
Julian Cope is a God!!!
Saw him in Pizza Express in Sheffield once after I’d been to see Orbital. Legend
I like this version, synth reminds me of Rambo C64 music😊
I was 16 when this was released. It captivated me. It was a call to a new age.
My first ever proper gig was Julian Cope at the Liverpool Royal Court in 1983, an incredible experience. He was somewhat ‘adrift and disconnected’ - taunting the audience a bit, showing the scars on his stomach from the infamous self-harm gig a few weeks earlier and towards the end of the gig, attacking the hologram machine with his mic stand until sparks and smoke emerged and roadies leapt on to guide Julian towards a self place, if you know what I mean. You can imagine my disappointment at the next 20 gigs when the singers didn’t have a major meltdown, reaching into dark places an allowing themselves to be possessed that way.
The original one-note guitar solo. Well done!
Oboe Kate!
I mean really, how freaking cool was Phil Oakey? This is 1978!!
Listen to that lead guitar... Clarence White, one of the best.

Jede welle ist natürlich
Great song !
so beautiful
Yeah,u tube haha
So glad this isn't lip-synched!
So awesome!
